The tallest brick minaret in the world is Qutub Minar, one of Delhi’s intriguing buildings. Visitors are always amused by the structure because it has been there for about 2,000 years. And, one of the interesting facts about Qutub Minar is that it has been standing without showing any signs of rust since its construction. You cannot finish your Delhi Sightseeing tour without visiting this UNESCO World Heritage Site, which was constructed in the 12th century.
Qutub Minar, the must-visit place in Delhi, has five unique storeys in the tower, and each one is identified by a projecting balcony. Qutab-ud-din Aibak, the first Muslim monarch of Delhi, began building the Qutab Minar in 1,200 AD, but he was only able to complete the basement. His successor, Iltutmush, added three more floors, and in 1368, Firoz Shah Tughlak built the final one. Some believe it to be a victory tower representing Muslim rule in India, while others assert that it is a minaret used by the muezzins to call the faithful to prayer.
The tower has four balconies that project outward and are supported by elaborately painted supports, bands of inscriptions, and other decorations. One of the popular attractions in Delhi, Qutub Minar houses the Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque, which is located at the base of the tower.
Despite being in ruins, the Quwwat Ui Islam (Might of Islam) Mosque in the Qutab complex is one of the most magnificent structures in the entire world. The mosque for Qutab-ud-din Aibak was built beginning in 1193 and was completed in 1197.
Qutub Minar Delhi was commissioned under the instruction of the first Muslim ruler of Delhi, Qutab-ud-din Aibak, but he was only able to finish the basement. His successor, Iltutmush added three more floors and lastly, in 1368, Firoz Shah Tughlak finished the whole construction.
The opening time of Qutub Minar Delhi is 7:00 AM and closing time is 5:00 PM.
Qutub Minar Delhi’s entry fee for Indians is Rs. 40 and for foreign tourists is Rs. 600.
