An army of 20,000 artists from India, Central Asia, and Europe were hired to work on the Taj Mahal, which has been recognized as one of the most visited monuments in India and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983. It is hailed as the “jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the globally adored masterpieces of the world’s heritage.”
Located on the bank of the River Yamuna, Taj Mahal is a popular attraction in Agra and a must-visit site on the Golden Triangle Tour. It was built under the instructions of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his deceased wife, Mumtaz Begum. Due to its near proximity and easy access, this iconic monument is also visited with the Ranthambore National Park Jungle safari tour. It covers 42 acres and features a massive gateway, well-maintained gardens with fountains, and water canals.
The Taj Mahal Sightseeing Tour allows exploration of the main architecture and its surrounding complex. The elaborate Mughal building, mostly constructed with white marble and adorned with tomb-like arches, serves as the main entrance. These arches boast vaulted ceilings, geometric patterns, and ornate calligraphy. The complex also includes two identical red sandstone buildings; one being a mosque, and the other its prototype, jawab (answer).
